Join us as we support sun bears that desperately need our help at the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre in Sandakan, Borneo. Destination Asia in partnership with the conservation centre is hosting a virtual run that anyone can join in. There is a US$35 joining *fee that goes to the sun bear fund, then join in the fun with a 5 km run at any time between 15th-30th November and share a photo of the distance digitally recorded (via an app or Garmin watch).
The first five participants to submit their running record photos are entered into a draw to attend a live Zoom chat with Dr. Wong Siew Te, founder of Borneo Sun Bear Conservation Centre. Please join us as we run together, helping raise funds for rehabilitation costs so keepers can provide better care for the resident sun bears – the world’s smallest bear. Sign me up!
How to Join the Run?
STEP 1: Open for Registration Now
Click here to register. Once the registration fee is paid you will receive an e-bib by email.
STEP 2: 15th – 30th November 2020
You may need to download a running app if you’re running outdoors to keep track of the distance and submit it as a result. Once you’re all set, you can run anywhere as long as it covers 5km. However, if you’re running on a treadmill, please take a picture of the final distance for proof.
STEP 3: 01st December 2020, 11:59pm (GMT +08:00)
Once you have completed your run, send in the screenshot or photo of the treadmill console display, together with your e-bib number to: [email protected] with the email subject, ‘BORNEAN SUN BEAR VIRTUAL RUN FINISHER’. You will receive your e-certificate by email.

Terms & Conditions:
• Participants are entirely responsible for their own safety. Destination Asia will not be responsible for any injury or accident sustained while taking part in the Destination Asia Bornean Sun Bear Virtual Run.
• Children participating in the Destination Asia Bornean Sun Bear Virtual Run should be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times.
• Participants may run, jog or walk (indoors or outdoors) between 15th – 30th November 2020.
• After completing the 5km run, participants shall email their running app screenshot or photo of treadmill console display, together with their e-bib number to: [email protected], with the email subject ‘BORNEAN SUN BEAR VIRTUAL RUN FINISHER’.
• Participants will receive their Destination Asia Bornean Sun Bear Virtual Run e-certificates (via e-mail) once their running app screenshots/treadmill console display photos are verified.
• Registration fees are non-refundable.
