Newly opened and located at the heart of Saigon’s central District 1, the Do Hung Museum offers a unique cultural experience and is divided into two equally impressive sections.
The ground floor focuses on jewellery made by Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups. While jewellery is naturally the centrepiece, with some absolutely stunning examples of it, there’s also ancient pottery and incredible artefacts, intricately carved from a variety of materials such as gold, silver, bronze, coral, jade and more. The refinement and delicacy of this work has to be seen to be believed!
The upper floors are devoted to the Nguyen Dynasty’s royal court. It preserves and exhibits over 22,000 precious pieces, including lacquerware, ceramics, carvings and grand royal costumes. It’s a testament to the splendour, prosperity, and cultural essence of Vietnam’s last feudal dynasty.
The museum’s architecture, in the traditional Hue royal court style, features curved roofs and countless exquisite decorative details. For those who appreciate culture, jewellery and world class standards of craftsmanship, this is a wonderful place to delve into Vietnam’s rich cultural past.
