A fam trip into Malaysia’s Belum-Temengor

Belum-Temengor is the largest continuous forest complex in peninsular Malaysia, stretching from the country’s dense rainforest and on into Thailand. While it abounds with natural grandeur, it remains relatively unvisited, so local tour organisers and hospitality providers have been making great steps to raise its profile and encourage visits.

As part of that initiative, the Destination Asia Malaysia team was invited on a familiarisation trip to a jewel in the region’s crown – the Royal Belum State Park.

The full-day tour set off from the Pulau Banding Jetty, cruising to the Native People Village, where the team got a peek into the native Jahai tribe’s way of life.

Another 30 minutes by boat and a short trek took the team to SaltLick, a truly fascinating stop. This is a natural mineral deposit where animals and insects gather to obtain essential nutrients, making it a gathering place for wildlife including elephants, tapirs, bees and butterflies.

A final trek through long grass and rocky paths led to a peaceful waterfall, with time to sit down, relax and reflect on an outstanding trip. Recharged and inspired, we’re looking forward to inviting guests to Royal Belum’s unique charms.
