From 1 December, travellers will have a new way to reach northern Laos with the launch of a Bangkok–Luang Prabang–Hanoi service. The route adds Luang Prabang as a stop between the Thai and Vietnamese capitals, opening up easier access to one of Southeast Asia’s most captivating UNESCO-listed destinations.
Operated by AirAsia, the service provides daily flights using an Airbus A320 aircraft, giving passengers the flexibility to fly directly into or out of Luang Prabang, or continue onward to Hanoi or Bangkok. This enhanced connectivity allows travellers to experience the city’s rich cultural heritage, including its ancient temples, French-colonial architecture, and vibrant night markets, as well as the surrounding natural beauty of the Mekong River and nearby waterfalls.
Luang Prabang’s growing popularity as a regional destination makes it an ideal stopover for multi-country itineraries, offering a chance to immerse in local traditions, enjoy riverside cafes, and explore scenic landscapes, all within a convenient addition to flights between Thailand and Vietnam. The timing of the launch coincides with the year-end travel season, providing an excellent opportunity for international visitors to include Laos in their Southeast Asia journey.
