Angkor Wat Causeway Closure (May 2017)

The ancient west causeway has served as the main entrance to Angkor Wat since its construction 900 years ago. The APSARA Authority (Authority for the protection and management of Angkor and the region of Siem Reap) will close the causeway spanning the gigantic moat surrounding the temple in early May. This is to undertake important restoration work. A temporary floating bridge has already been assembled to ensure visitors can still easily access Cambodia’s most famous temple. Angkor Wat can also be accessed from the lesser known east gate where Destination Asia often leads clients into the temple grounds, avoiding the crowds.
