Group: 200 high-achieving sales personnel from a major IT networking and telecommunications company.
Brief: The client wanted to create a fun and unique program in Langkawi to reward their high achievers, ending with a cultural and memorable final dinner.
Destination Asia Malaysia team was selected to coordinate and plan the program for a 4 days 3 nights Langkawi event for their top sales personnel from Asia Pacific. The client did a buyout of the resort and our team was tasked to convert an open-air restaurant by the beach and the pool area into an exclusive hospitality area where the guests can lounge around, have fun, enjoy light meals, play table games like table tennis, pool and foosball, and have access to the local help desk, throughout their stay at the resort. This meant the furniture needed to be brought into Langkawi and set up on the night before the guests’ arrival. Our Destination Asia team worked overnight to convert the entire resort to the desired ambience for the client and thus providing a personalized feel for the delegates.
The Welcome Dinner was held at the resort’s beach with beautiful table decorations and our Destination Asia team meticulously created the dinner’s elegant beach theme for that night. For entertainment, we had a multi-cultural and Latin drums performance and an acoustic 2-piece band, which suited the theme. The result was a relaxing and enjoyable night for the guests.
For the last day, the group had a full-day tour and ended with the Final Night Celebration. This was held at the Langkawi International Conference Center, which is located just beside the resort the guests were staying at. Destination Asia together with a local production team, worked together to completely transform the 1,660 square metre conference hall into a unique Malaysian Night themed space where the guests can immerse in the Malaysian culture and enjoy the local flavours.
The hall was divided into 2 sections, the Malaysian themed dining section, where round banquet tables were setup for guests’ dining, and another “hidden” unlit section where the after party will be held. The dining area had a stunning backdrop constructed with attap roofs and bamboo fences and had local elements of batik and wayang kulit infused in it. There are also 2 Malay village house decorations built along with various village and local street market elements like bicycles, vespas, local tropical fruits, local spices and traditional games. This provided more photo opportunities for the guests and they were seen having fun taking group photos. Among the decorations, a wayang kulit stage was disguised as part of the street market area. A welcome troupe and Kompang troupe wearing traditional costumes ushered in the guests as they arrive at the venue. And vibrant cultural dances perfectly started of the night away.
From the site inspection to the execution of the final event, our attention to detail had to be meticulous. With unwavering team dedication and endless support from our partners and the resort, we were able to deliver the incentive just as the client envisioned and witnessed the guests enjoying themselves during the whole program in Langkawi.
