There are numerous places in Thailand where it is still possible to escape the crowds and enjoy distinctly Thai cultural traits within refreshingly green and peaceful countryside.
Guy Allison, Product Manager of Destination Asia Thailand, recently visited Bok Klua, a charming village two hours’ drive north of Nan Town (it is closer to Laos than any city Thailand). Twenty years ago HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn was visiting the area and made a pledge to help reduce poverty in the region. New roads were built and jobs were created through organic farming of mulberries and herbs which now flourish in the valley. The ideal time of year to visit Nan is from November to early December, before the Christmas period and when the weather is pleasantly cool.
