Local Knowledge of Thailand’s Rural Regions

Asia Talk-Thailand_oct2016There are numerous places in Thailand where it is still possible to escape the crowds and enjoy distinctly Thai cultural traits within refreshingly green and peaceful countryside.

Guy Allison, Product Manager of Destination Asia Thailand, recently visited Bok Klua, a charming village two hours’ drive north of Nan Town (it is closer to Laos than any city Thailand). Twenty years ago HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn was visiting the area and made a pledge to help reduce poverty in the region. New roads were built and jobs were created through organic farming of mulberries and herbs which now flourish in the valley. The ideal time of year to visit Nan is from November to early December, before the Christmas period and when the weather is pleasantly cool.

Destination Asia can organize a 3 day/2 night program which includes two nights in the wonderfully rustic Boklua View Hotel; one days full trekking in Phu Kha National Park; and visits to a salt mine/community projects in Bok Klua and Phu Fha Royal Project.
