We’ve all heard of micro hotels, space saving initiatives, cutting back on the extras and providing guests with the bare necessities. This quirky and eco-friendly hotel doesn’t go quite that far, but it does overcome an architectural challenge and make great use of limited space. The ‘Sleep Box’ in Chiang Mai has taken a collection of ordinary shipping containers and created something unique, while at the same time both cozy and comfortable. 14 containers of varying sizes have been assembled to create 800 square meters of living space – and a total of 21 design conscious rooms. Each room is unique in its design, with the necessary measures taken to insulate the walls in order to stabilize the temperature inside, creating an energy efficient environment.

Guests can choose from four different room types; the Super Box, Smart Box, Smooth Box and Small Box, all featuring flat-screen TV, en suite bathroom and double bed. Located just 15 minutes from Chiang Mai International Airport with an on-site restaurant and parking available for drivers, Sleep Box bridges the gap between eco-chic and minimal luxury, creating a comfortable yet memorable stay for those on a short break in Chiang Mai.
