Bali’s new tourism tax effective February 2024

Starting February 14th, 2024, the Bali Provincial Government will enforce a mandatory tourism tax of IDR 150,000 (approx. $10) for all international tourists visiting Bali. This new levy will be applied in conjunction with the existing Visa on Arrival (VOA) fee of IDR 500,000, which is applicable to eligible nationalities.

To facilitate the payment of this tax, we recommend utilising the Love Bali Website or the Love Bali App, both scheduled for launch on February 14th. Tourists will need to enter their passport number, full name and email address as well as arrival date before selecting their preferred payment method including credit cards (Visa, Master Card, American Express, and JCB), bank transfer, Virtual Account, or QRIS. Upon completing the payment, a levy voucher with QR-code will be sent to their email for scanning at designated checkpoints at Denpasar Airport or Benoa Harbour.

For those who prefer an alternative payment method, arriving passengers can make the payment at dedicated counters at Denpasar Airport or the Benoa Cruise Terminal. Additionally, payment can be made at selected hotels and tourist attractions registered in the Love Bali system.

Travellers entering Bali through smaller harbours without payment facilities are still obligated to pay the tax, and random checks may be conducted at popular attractions.

This new tax is applicable to all foreigners visiting Bali on a tourism visa, and it is a one-time payment for the duration of their stay in Indonesia.
