Vietnam Government Approves Extension Visa Waiver for Citizens from 5 Western European Countries

According to Government officials, the visa waiver extension will take effect for one year from July 30 pursuant to a newly released Government decision. Tourists from these countries will not have to apply for a visa if they stay for 15 days or less.

International visitors traveling to Phu Quoc Island will be exempted for 30 days of Vietnam Visa.

Countries entitled to visa exemption entry include:

  • ASEAN Countries – can stay up to 30 days
  • Scandinavian countries, Russia, Japan, Korea, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, United Kingdom (15 days Free Visa)

Those countries not listed above must either:

1: Obtain Visa at the Vietnamese Embassy in their home country prior to arrival, or;
2: Obtain Visa on arrival.  Visa on arrival is only possible with a valid visa approval letter issued in advance by an authorized Vietnamese tour operator such as Destination Asia.

For Visa on Arrival, clients travelling to Vietnam must submit a printed hard copy of the Visa approval letter to the departure Airline check-in desk, along with a passport with at least 6 months validity and 2 free pages, and then submit the same letter and passport again on arrival at Vietnam immigration.  Failure to do so will mean clients will not be allowed to exit their home Country and/or enter Vietnam.
