Happy birthday to Bangkok’s most famous hotel

For 150 years, Mandarin Oriental Bangkok has stood as a sanctuary on the banks of the Chao Phraya River — a place where royalty, writers, artists, and world travellers have found not only comfort but inspiration. From its beginnings as The Oriental Hotel in 1876 to becoming one of the world’s most celebrated luxury hotels, it has remained true to one purpose, of making every stay unforgettable. And while it’s steeped in tradition, its appeal remains evergreen. As recently as last year it was handed a Three Keys award by the Michelin Hotel Guide.

Throughout the year, celebrations unfold across six chapters, from culinary artistry to cultural discovery, from wellness rituals to timeless stories, with each moment honoring the past and inviting guests into the future.

It has also enjoyed some upgrades to make the party even bigger and better, with renovations of the Chao Phraya Room & Chao Phraya Suite rooms, as well as the Le Normandie, The China House and Baan Phraya restaurants.

Destination Asia Thailand is happy to join the celebrations with complimentary upgrades from deluxe premier to deluxe balcony rooms for guests who book and stay before 30 June.
