The art of Singaporean mini tingkat painting

Venue: Central Singapore

Capacity: Up to 20 pax per session

Mini tingkats are small metal lunch pails, similar to India’s tiffin boxes, traditionally used to carry meals. In Singapore, they have been a canvas for local artists who adorn them with intricate, colourful designs. Artist Pei Lin, who learned this craft from a Nyonya elder, now teaches this unique art form at her studio in central Singapore.

Pei Lin has developed her own distinctive style and enjoys sharing it with groups of up to 20 participants during a three-hour session. Guests not only admire Pei Lin’s designs but also get the chance to design their own under her expert guidance, with the added delight of taking their finished tingkat home.

For those interested in Singaporean culture, art, and hands-on activities, this experience offers a truly special way to connect with a rich tradition.
