An immersive village experience in Bali

Capacity: Up to 100 people
Occasion: Single day return trip
Available year-round

People who want to get a real, in-depth  feel for the way people live in Bali will relish this fascinating cultural journey. It takes in a visit to a local family compound, whose inhabitants are delighted to welcome their guests to witness their close-knit, harmonious lifestyle, and sample some mouthwatering, traditional Indonesian snacks.

The women here make canang sari, which are delicate little baskets filled with goodies to offer the gods, such as flowers, rice, incense and even the odd cigarette! They also weave anyaman, strips of tough, dyed fabric from the screw pine tree, which they plait together to create beautiful intricate designs. Guests can feel free to join them and try their hand at the processes. There are idyllic strolls through the impossibly green rice fields and, if they wish, visitors can help the farmers with the planting, with the watchful farmer advising them on where to leave space between the plants so they can grow properly. Last but not least, toward the end of the day it’s time to grab some delicious, traditional Balinese dishes and sit down to eat in the surroundings of those beautiful green rice fields. It’s a perfect way to end a memorable day.
