A Rewarding Local Lunch And Cooking Experience In Laos

Ban Lae village, a short 40-minute drive north of Luang Prabang, is home to communities from the ancient Lao Loum and Hmong tribes. It’s also the venue for a deep dive into the local lifestyle as guests stay in their own house, hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Khoun. And a sure-fire highlight of the stay is a cooking session with Mrs. Kham.

Kham loves cooking and our reviews show her cooking lessons and the meals that come from them are a huge hit with guests. The sessions take place either at the house or in a traditional Lao Leu dwelling in Luang Prabang. The five-hour sessions start with a quick tour to the morning market to pick up perfectly fresh ingredients, and the resulting lunchtime feast features seven dishes that allow guests to experience the wide diversity of Lao cuisine. This journey ends at around 2 pm.
