Borneo Adventure Mixes Historic Train Ride with Great Walking

Available on Thursdays and Sundays, this decidedly different tour takes its guests through the beautiful Papar coastal region along a 124-year-old railway line, the only one in Borneo. The day starts with a traditional music performance at Papar station, then passengers board the train and enjoy the great views and lively commentary from a professional heritage tourist guide.

The guide then leads a walking tour around the historic Tamu open market on Thursday or the Central Market on Sunday, winding through the atmospheric old streets of Papar, with fascinating stories and sights pointed out along the way. As a thoughtful and quite unusual extra, guests are given free time to do some shopping and give in to temptation at the stalls selling delicious, aromatic dishes.
