CSR Plays Important Role for Group in Siem Reap

CSR Cambodia400x263Destination Asia Cambodia recently organized an incentive trip for a group of 180 pax from a major worldwide manufacturer of window coverings and architectural products. The venue for the incentive was Siem Reap in Cambodia and took place over seven days.

Brief:
The client requested an incentive that engaged its employees with the local community. Incorporating a strong element of CSR was vital with a number of activities to run simultaneously each day, giving the delegates variety. The company wanted a hands on approach to the activities that would have a positive effect within the community.

Overcoming the challenges:
The greatest challenge was the logistical task faced in organizing 180 delegates between 10 differing activities on certain days. To organize a socially responsible corporate project of this size, we had to work closely with a local village community near Siem Reap Province.  We selected an Australian run NGO School and two government schools in the area. Additionally, a house building activity was also part of this project adding a fourth location. Working in multiple locations required over 30 Destination Asia staff to supervise the differing activities.

Client feedback:
The client commented on Destination Asia’s great ability to be flexible and meet the constantly changing demands. They were extremely appreciative of the hands on approach to manage every aspect of the event, not leaving anything to chance. They were especially proud that in one morning alone they were capable of creating several garden flower beds, re-paint three school walls, plant 50 trees and build a house!
