The people of Laos have a deep respect and belief in Buddhism, which is rooted in all aspects of daily life and undoubtedly a factor in the country’s remarkably serene atmosphere. Monks are a central part of the Buddhist faith and now temples in Luang Prabang, Vientiane and Pakse and are offering sacred monk blessings to visitors.
Guests are given the opportunity to receive a personal blessing from one of the resident monks in a traditional ceremony where they are gently sprinkled with fragrant water, jasmine and other exotic local flowers. It’s believed that the ritual cleanses bad spirits from the past and brings good luck and leaves recipients feeling renewed and relaxed after this memorable experience.
