Langkawi Challenge a Great Success

Destination Asia Malaysia was handed a brief from a leading telecommunications company to provide the incentive trip of a lifetime to Langkawi for 90 of its staff. The team had just four days’ notice to prepare all logistics and deliver after the destination was moved from Chiang Mai in Thailand to Langkawi.

To move the entire event from one country to another required close co-ordination of all logistics by everybody concerned and it was crucial that all the teams were fully committed to working closely together. Our client advised all the winners that the event had to move to Langkawi the day before they departed. The original event took 9 months of meticulous planning whereas the shift to Langkawi was completed within three days.

Overcoming the challenges:

We were assisted by the willingness and collaboration of the Four Seasons Resort, who agreed to transfer without a single penalty to the Four Seasons resort in Langkawi. Another agreement was made within the Destination Asia country network to move all finances to its sister business in Malaysia who were now controlling the incentive.

The last-minute plans included arranging return charter flights from Bangkok to Langkawi and a re-design and print of all event collateral with the Langkawi design; alongside sourcing local Malaysian gifts. The Destination Asia Malaysia meetings and events team created a program in Langkawi and made all associated arrangements; including touring activities, coach journeys, venue booking, menus, themed dinner, entertainment and organization of the production team. Twenty four hours later the group started to arrive in Langkawi with the event coming together for six successful days.

The event was a great success. A huge feat considering the meticulous planning that goes into such an event is normally a 9 months long process. Destination Asia took the program from crises to concept and seamlessly delivered in just 8 days, keeping both the client and guests very happy.
