The brief: When a leading South African financial services group asked us to design a truly memorable gala dinner and awards ceremony for 60 guests, we proposed an unforgettable three-day, two-night luxury cruise around Vietnam’s stunning Halong Bay. This five-star experience, complete with sunset celebrations on the sundeck, promised guests the perfect mix of relaxation and breathtaking views—and it was met with enthusiastic approval.
Even with the guest list expanding from 60 to 84, our planning continued seamlessly. The bigger challenge came when Typhoon Yagi struck just weeks before our departure, affecting several locations on our itinerary, such as fishing villages, pearl farms, and beaches. We quickly adjusted plans and secured alternative experiences to ensure the journey remained as spectacular as intended.
The gala dinner itself was a highlight, featuring a live band and DJ that kept the energy high as guests enjoyed the evening’s celebrations under the stars. To ensure everything ran smoothly, a dedicated team from Destination Asia accompanied the group throughout the trip. Thanks to these efforts, the guests enjoyed an incredible experience, undeterred by recent events.
