Private dinner with an esteemed host in Yogyakarta

Held in the stunningly beautiful gardens of the d’Omah Hotel in Yogyakarta, guests are welcomed to dinner by their esteemed host Warwick Purser, an Australian who became Indonesian by presidential decree and is legendary for his countless adventures and entrepreneurial skills, as well as his unwavering commitment to community development.

Guests are regaled with tales of his amazingly colourful life while they sit and savour a procession of 15 different and delectable dishes in what can only be described as a rijstaffel feast.

Rijstaffel is among Indonesia’s most revered culinary exports. Literally meaning “rice table,” it features an array of delights that typically include satay, gado gado salad, beef rendang and any number of fish, meat and vegetable dishes, along with the obligatory bowls of fragrant rice plus sauces and fiery sambals. It’s popular worldwide, especially in Holland, where Dutch colonial travellers brought it back.

As well as an unforgettable gourmet occasion, this dinner provides a chance for guests to get familiar with the life of a truly extraordinary man.
