Ovolo Southside converts Hong Kong warehouse

Now boasting five hotels in Hong Kong, Ovolo hotels recently unveiled their latest addition – Ovolo Southside in the town of Wong Chuk Hang on the south side of Hong Kong Island.

The area was formerly known for its car workshops and warehouses but is now home to a growing art scene that makes use of the heritage buildings, converting them into galleries and restaurants. Ovolo is no exception, debuting the first converted warehouse hotel in Hong Kong.

In keeping with the modern warehouse theme, guests are treated to steel furniture and fittings accented by poured concrete floors with ceilings framing exposed pipes. The 162 rooms continue the industrial theme and take names such as ‘Long Loft’ and ‘Corner Deluxe’ – making use of the panoramic views over Hong Kong. There are three onsite restaurants and bars, plus two fully equipped meeting rooms; the B.I.G room and larger Ovolo’s G.I.G. that can host up to 375 attendees in the warehouse’s former garage.
