Vietnam Extend Visa Exemption for Five European Countries

According to Vietnamese Government officials, the visa exemption for five European countries (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom) will be continued another three years until 30 June 2021. Tourists from these countries will not have to apply for a visa if they stay for 15 days or less. Those countries entitled to visa exemption entry include; all ASEAN countries (stay up to 30 days); Scandinavian countries, Russia, Japan, Korea, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and United Kingdom (stay up to 15 days).

Those countries not mentioned above must either obtain a visa at the Vietnamese Embassy in their home country prior to arrival, or apply for a visa on arrival. Visa on arrival is only possible with a valid visa approval letter issued in advance by an authorized Vietnamese tour operator such as Destination Asia. For Visa on Arrival, clients travelling to Vietnam must submit a printed hard copy of the Visa approval letter to the departure airline check-in desk, along with a passport with at least 6 months validity and two unused pages. They must then submit the same letter and passport again on arrival at Vietnam immigration. Failure to do so will mean clients will not be allowed to exit their home country and/or enter Vietnam.
